Black male masturbated on transit bus, then followed victim

WEST HARTFORD — A Hartford man has been charged with public indecency and breach of peace after police say he was masturbating on a CT Transit bus in West Hartford and exposed himself to a woman.

When the woman moved to the front of the bus to get away from Robert Jamell Roundtree, he followed her, police said. And when she got off the bus at Westfarms mall, he followed her into the mall, exposing himself as he followed, police said.

Inside the mall, she went into a restaurant and called police, police said. Roundtree went into a bathroom.

"We found him in the front of the mall, and he was still exposing himself at that time," said Lt. Ted Stoneburner. Roundtree is on federal probation for drug offenses.

Roundtree was initially held on $10,000 bail for the incident, which was reported at 1 p.m. Dec. 2, but was later released after his bail was reduced and he posted $5,000 bail with a bondsman.

His case is being handled in community court in Hartford, where he is scheduled to appear Dec. 23.
